Abstract:
This thesis examines the budgetary cost control system through examination of an existing system used by a major manufacturer. Evaluation criteria for budgetary cost control systems are developed. The current system is evaluated against these criteria and is found to be inadequate in some areas. To overcome these inadequacies a new system is developed and implemented. The new system is evaluated and conclusions drawn. Future directions are examined and proposals made for consideration.
