Abstract:
This paper presents the reasons for the inclusion of the meaning of the cost of capital, cost of long-term debt, preferred stock, common stock, retained earnings and depreciation fund, composite cost of capital, and leverage. In the controversial areas of the cost of capital, this paper attempts to eliminate some of the confusions. Such a step enables management to calculate the overall cost of capital by weighing the cost of each component by its relative weight in total funds needed.
