Abstract:
Isotoma eunotabilis Folsom (Collembola: Isotomidae) is reared successfully, under axenic conditions, on a chemically defined synthetic diet containing 19 amino acids along with Carbohydrates, fats, minerals, and vitamins. The colony cannot survive if any one of the ten essential amino acids is lacking from the diet. In addition to that ten essential amino acids; arginine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. The diet must also include the amino acids; glycine, proline, and serine for the successful rearing and optimal growth of the insect.
