Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine if the nature of the product could be a helpful factor in controlling personal selling costs. This study indicates that a product's consumer or industrial good classification could be a useful reference in controlling personal selling costs. In a similar way, a product's classification might also be helpful in controlling other marketing expenses. Additional studies should be made as more detailed product marketing cost data becomes available.
