Abstract

A manufacturing shop making different parts requires processing of these parts on various machines (or work centers) for various lengths of time in certain predetermined sequence for each type of these parts. This paper describes and builds a computerized model to simulate such a shop and thereby predicts the areas of trouble in the shop, percentage machine utilization, expected completion times for different orders and detailed status of the shop at any time and thus helps management in making vital decisions.
