Abstract

The outdoors can be an enjoyable space for both work and leisure, but when the temperatures rise to sweltering heights and drop to freezing lows, the outdoors may not be a good place to stay for too long. This is why the HVAC personal garment will be helpful, and it may benefit the following persons: Construction workers, Outdoor athletes, First responders, Women with menopause. High temperatures can have harmful and even deadly effects on the human body, ranging from fatigue, heat exhaustion, and even death. Likewise for low temperatures, prolonged exposure to the cold can cause the human body to go into a state of hypothermic shock and may also be deadly as well. Women with menopause may experience hot flashes and night sweats, known as Vasomotor Symptoms (VMS). These may be very uncomfortable (NIH, 2022). The New York State Department of Health (2023) recommends that a comfortable, health-risk free indoor temperature for healthy adults is between 64-75 degrees Fahrenheit. The HVAC personal garment aims to achieve that temperature range while being portable, efficient, and effective.
