Abstract

The Hypothesis-driven Biofeedback Lab serves as an experimental environment designed to explore and test specific hypotheses regarding the regulation of physiological processes through biofeedback interventions. Biofeedback, a technique that provides real-time feedback on physiological functions such as heart rate, skin conductance, and brain activity, has been shown to have therapeutic potential in various psychological and physiological contexts. In this lab, we investigate how individuals can learn to modify these autonomic functions consciously and assess the impact on mental health, cognitive performance, or physical well-being. The goal of biofeedback training is to teach individuals to control autonomic functions (like heart rate, respiration, pulse etc.) that are typically outside of conscious control.
