Description
The fall semester started off with many dedications and a new President starting his tenure. Seven issues of the UB Bulletin were published with one Professional Activities, from 9/3 to 9/26. The new president of UB, Dr. Leland Miles, commenced his tenure at UB with meetings with faculty and receptions with parents. The unveling of a new sculpture located in the lobby of the Magnus Wahlstrom Library titled Dionysus and Apollo by Frederick Shrady took place on 9/6. The Wahlstrom Library itself was dedicated with a ceremony on 9/13 with new President Miles presiding and guest Robert Wedgeworth, executive director of the American Library Association in attendance. Later in the month the dedication of the new Carlson Plaza followed on 9/22. The 2nd Annual Puerto Rican Arts Festival took place at UB September 13-15 with music, culture, and arts representation. The Ramsy Lewis trio played at the Mertens Theater on September 20. Finally, the UB men's soccer team played the University of Dublin at Kennedy Stadium. The Irish team will be making its second appearance in Bridgeport in the last two years.
