Abstract
This thesis is a study of British and American cooperation in antislavery activities during the lifetime of Thomas Clarkson, with special attention to Clarkson's relation to these British-American connections. Thomas Clarkson, revered by American abolitionists and one of the greatest of the leaders in the antislavery movement, has been too long neglected by recorders of history. This thesis attempts to reawaken an awareness that once existed of Clarkson's important contributions to one of the noble humanitarian movements of the last century.
