Abstract

Current marketing systems theory is highly sophisticated. Technical knowledge and computer capabilities for marketing information systems (MIS) are currently available. Yet, many firms do not seem to be utilizing a sophisticated MIS. This paper outlines current marketing systems theory, a format for MIS design, and MIS benefits and disadvantages. Then it attempts to define the existence or nonexistence of a time lag between MIS theory and application in the current practices of selected Connecticut firms.
