Abstract

My research and mentoring efforts cover a range of topics loosely falling within the fields of molecular ecology and conservation genetics. I have done projects with extensive field work, usually tracking and markrecapture of animals in the wild. I have also embarked on projects largely based on exploring newer genomic approaches to studying wild organisms. Graduate and undergraduate students who wish to work with me have a range of options. Some may pursue study of a species in a regional habitat or jurisdiction with the goal of understanding its ecology and conservation status. Others may join with one of my ongoing population and evolutionary genetic projects and carry out genetic marker analysis using specimens I have amassed, and new ones we may obtain. Still others may pursue more bioinformatic approaches to answering evolutionary questions on some of the species I work with.
