Abstract
This study traced the change in attitude toward alcoholism from one of "moral weakness" to a recognized "disease" by both industry and society. Empirical research conducted for this study indicates that reduction or elimination of alcoholism in industry is achieved primarily through well designed and individualized company rehabilitation programs. Therefore, the essential components of an effective alcoholism program are analyzed and discussed in detail. Recommendations for further research are also presented.
