Abstract
Description
The article examines the causes that may have led to the rise in the incidence of autoimmune diseases in the past decades from 2012. It says that this may be due to treatment approaches that provide symptomatic relief with nasty side effects. It describes new research areas that study the genesis of autoimmune disorders such as the concept of molecular mimicry, the role of parasites in the human immune system and the role of intestinal permeability in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders.
