Abstract

The quantitative analysis of filaments network in a living cell is important for understanding its role in biological function. A Matlab program, developed by Samir, Shah and others at Wake Forest University in 2004, was used for filaments recognition in 2-D images. The obtained information carries out tremendous mechanical and functional properties based on the cell type and condition. In this work we compared the fibers length and density in both normal and abnormal mouse's abdominal artery images. The results show a huge different in the density of the filaments and the angular orientation. The differences in fibers length were also distributed. Through these results we got motivated to understand the mechanical properties of the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and how the orientations of filaments tend to change according to the effects. That may lead to suitable strategies towards effective treatments of the Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.
