Abstract

Despite the proliferation of scholarly attention to wrongful conviction, few studies have empirically explored this phenomenon as it relates to white-collar crime (Gross et al., 2020; Podgor, 2010). Using data from the National Registry of Exonerations, we examined cases in which an innocent individual was convicted of a white-collar crime and subsequently exonerated. The findings have implications for the prevention, detection, and correction of wrongful whitecollar crime convictions.
