Abstract
Description
Dr. Alan F. Guttmacher, the current president of Planned Parenthood, visited the UB campus to speak and offer a Q & A session for the campus community. Surprisingly, Dr. Guttmacher, a world renouned expert on family planning, counseled that universitites should not be used for disseminating information on contraception, and that universities are meant to provide an education, and that providing this information was being "unfaithful to parents." The prior president of Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, the found of the organization. He indicated that university physicians could refer students who asked for this information to "the proper city doctors."
