Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how estrogen dominance plays an important role in the pathophysiology of endometriosis. The paper also presents an overview of endometriosis. It contains the etiology, risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, convectional medicine and naturopathic medicine therapeutics. For the purpose of this paper, naturopathic medicine is the main focus of the treatment plan. Nutritional and natureceuticals can help balance hormones, which help alleviate the symptoms with out any side effects. While most of the research has focused mainly on Vitex agnus cactus and vitamin E, there are several other herbs and nutritional supplements that can be used to help decrease estrogen and increase the progesterone levels, specifically in those with endometriosis.
