At the Seventh Annual International Ball, May 15, 1982, Jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck received UB's first Horonary Doctor of Music Degree during a special ceremony at the ball. The degree was conferred by President Leland Miles and sponsored by the Halsey International Scholarship program. Mr. Brubeck performed piano selections from his international repertoire. This is one of the premier social events for the greater Bridgeport area. Over 400 individuals attended the event including international representatives from countries that have students benefitting from the scholarship program.
