Abstract

The purpose of this research is to provide a better understanding of the relationships that a purchasing department maintains with the other departments in a business organization. It is designed to show that a purchasing department can only be as effective as the relations that it maintains with the other functions in the business enterprise. To this end, this thesis shows that the purchasing function can be an effective contributor to the profitability of the business organization.
