Abstract
A method of collecting and successfully raising in the laboratory of Isotoma eunotabilis Folsom and Entomobrya nivalis L., the two species of collembola found in the Fairfield County of Connecticut, is discussed, along with observations on their habit and biology. Details of the nutritive requirements of Isotoma eunotabilis Folsom to maintain an axenic culture on a chemically defined synthetic diet in the laboratory, under controlled conditions of temperature and relative humidity, are presented.
