Six issues of the UB Bulletin were published in the month of March from 3/5 to 3/28 with two issues of Professional Activities. At a student leaders dinner, architect Victor Christ-Janer indicated that a part of long-range planning is to create a more pedestrian friendly campus indicating a plan to plan to "discipline the automobile" by creating a 14 acre pedstrian center mall for the campus. "South Pacific" was preformed at the Mertens Theater 3/8 to 3/10. An economic development seminar was held at the University introduced by Mayor Nicholas Panuzio and addressed by US Rep. Stewart McKinney, 4th Dist. CT regarding economic development in the state. On 3/7 it was announced that Dr. Leland Miles would begin his presidency at UB on 8/15. The 10th annual Halsey Symposium took place 3/13 titled "the Role of Music in Achieving and Preserving a Free society." Swami Hridayananda gave a lectureon the "social implication of Indian wisdom." Two lectures by Bernard Chaet were given in the Bernhard Center on 3/12. Bernard chaet is the Albert dorne visiting professor at UB and his art will be featured at the Carlson Gallery. Chaet was known known for his modernist paintings, his association with the Boston Expressionists. Finally, the 4th Annual Contemporary Composer Festival commenced on 3/31 with a tribute to the artist in residence composer Alan Hovhaness.
