Abstract

Many manufacturers enter into cooperative agreements with retailers to share in some proportion the expenses related to the advertisement or special featuring of the manufacturers product. The offering of cooperative allowances pose budgeting and legal problems to manufacturers in addition to-being difficult to control and administer. It is the intention of this paper to prove that cooperative allowances are manageable. It is hoped that the exposure to the many aspects of cooperative allowances in this paper will be of assistance to marketing and financial managers in administering their cooperative programs.
