Abstract

Artificial intelligence (Al) has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving quality. Al systems can analyze and learn from large amounts of data, such as medical images and electronic health records (EHR), which will help health professionals make informed clinical decisions. However, the potential benefits of Al have raised vast and complex ethical issues, such as accountability, fairness, and privacy. Thus, this paper aims to extend the debate on the ethical impact of Al in healthcare, focusing on fairness and equity. Also, it provides a pipeline framework designed to help decisionmakers identify the potential sources of inquity issues during planning, developing, and deploying AI-based solutions for medical purposes.
