Abstract
The small independent retreader should produce and sell 100 tires per day to maintain competitive costs. Industry tests have shown that retreaded tires can meet the same Federal Standards as new tires. The economic recession coupled with the oil shortage and lower speed limits is increasing the demand for retreaded tires. The problem yet to be resolved is how to retread radial tires with methods affordable by the small retreader.
