The Updated CAS Standards for Learning Assistance Programs

Abstract

The CAS (2023) Learning Assistance Program Standards and their corresponding self assessment guides provide essential tools for evaluating learning assistance programs (LAPs) and for monitoring services that ensure student academic success. In order for these standards to be relevant and current, a CAS committee was charged with updating these standards by reviewing the older standards and creating the new standards through a comprehensive, intensive, systematic process that incorporated feedback from multiple stakeholders. These new LAP standards, which along with the LAP contextual statement, were recently published in the updated CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education, 11.1 (CAS, 2023).
