Abstract
The importance of the scattering tensor in the investigations of Raman scattering is clear, The form of this tensor and its value describe the state of the polarization of the Raman scattered light. In addition, the values of the components of the scattering tensor are related to the intensities of the scattered light. The form of the scattering tensor for different molecular structures is well known, but the values of the elements of the scattering tensor are not. Therefore, knowing the values of the elements of the scattering tensor results in more information concerning the state of polarization and the intensities of the scattered light. An attempt was made here to show that the calculation of the numerical values of the elements of the scattering tensor is possible; although there are restriction, that is, components of scattering tensors belonging to anti-symmetric molecular structures of gasses and liquids cannot be evaluated.
