Description
This publication was a "yearbook" that reflects the experiences of High School students as a part of a summer program for students wanting to engage in college-level science courses and discourse. This year, unlike the initial year of 1959, the program opened up to female HS students. This "yearbook" details the student's experience through photography, literary contributions and more. The instructors are also included and the program ran for approx. 7 weeks in the summer late June to mid-August. Participants would remain on the UB campus during the course of the program and would also participate in "field trips" to various science-related venues throughout the state and region. This year the program lasted from June 26 - August 13.
Here is the official program synopsis;
"The University of Bridgeport Pre-College Science Center, one of several Science Centers held throughout the country, is a seven week program designed to emphasize selected areas of the natural sciences for the benefit of high school students of markedly high ability. By providing the necessary facilities and guidance for independent study, the Center hopes to accom plish its objectives of searching for and cultivating scientific talent and stimulating and encouraging interest in the sciences."
