Abstract

This thesis researches the current and available literature on subjective effects in digital speech communications. These digital systems include all classes of linear and differential waveform quantizers, where extensive subjective testing has been conducted. The principal aim of this study is to analyze the differences between objectively measured conventional performance characteristics (e.g., signal-to-noise ratio), and subjective observations obtained through comprehensive listening tests.
