Description

This Mace was a gift from the Class of 1964. It was crafted by Jack Kiselstein of Fairfield, Connecticut. It is carried in the commencement procession immediately preceeding the University President both entering and leaving the commencement ceremony. It is made of sterling silver and has eighteen oval amythyst stone around the upper circumference. This object derives from medieval times in England as a weapon to protect an official during the opening of court or when an official took an office.
