Abstract
The underlying thesis concerns the reasons for inclusion of cash flow in capital budgeting, cash flow analysis, appraising equipment replacement proposals, some implications of uncertainty and modern analytical techniques for capital expenditure evaluation. This paper suggests the need for planned team research into the operational challenge of the capital budget - the team composed both of the wise, experienced, open minded practitioner and competent and imaginative theorist rigorously trained in the niceties of the economics of profit planning.
