Abstract
The object of this work is to design and realize a Voltage Controlled Phase Shifter to be used in phased arrays at microwave frequencies, or whenever the need of such a device arises. The classical solution to this problem is the use, in different devices, of the FARADAY EFFECT. Problems related to this solution are the high power consumption due to the magnetostatic field needed, the time required to change from a value of phase shift to another and, not last, the weight and mechanical complexity. The proposed device consists in a line or in the simplest version, on the unit cell of a line. Giving suitable values to the elements of this cell it will be shown that it is possible to obtain a variable phase shift while having a constant characteristic impedance that makes it possible to build a line of similar cells in order to have the maximum required phase shift.
