Abstract

The World Diabetes Federation estimates that 537 million persons (aged 20 to 79) would have diabetes by the year 2021; which represents a significant increase from the previous year (IDF). Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how the body processes blood sugar (glucose). There are three main types of diabetes: Type 1: Usually found in adolescents and teenagers due to autoimmune disorder. Type 2: Adults are prone to this type, cause due to excess carbohydrate intake, lake of exercise and other medical complications. Gestational: This type of diabetes develops during pregnancy and usually goes away after delivery. However, women who have had gestational diabetes have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. Although, WHO suggests few medications diabetes still a nightmare due to its complications This paper explains the recent statistics and other ways to mitigation and its cure.
